The Perfect Length for a Day Trip: Flagstaff to Sedona

a view of tall red rock formations behind green and yellow trees

Where is Sedona?

The City of Sedona and its famous red rocks, spiritual vortexes, and bustling uptown are 30 miles south of Flagstaff. A day trip to Sedona involves a beautiful drive down Highway 89A, spectacular views of iron-rich red buttes and mesas, and a flourishing “uptown” area with plenty of bars restaurants and shops. But do you really need a guide in order to get the most out of Sedona?

Exploring Sedona is an excellent day trip and is the shortest tour that we offer. You could go on your own and figure out what to do and where to go with your smartphone. But a guided tour is the best option for getting the most out of your vacation time.

Our Sedona day tour focuses on the best parts of Sedona. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is located in southern Sedona and offers some great views of town. The church itself is build right into the side of a mesa and is a breathtaking site regardless of your religious affiliation. Everyone is welcome to enter the church and there is a gift shop downstairs with souvenirs of all kinds for sale.

Sedona’s main attraction is its geography and striking terrain. The red mesas of the area are each named and have their own unique beauty. The surrounding hills and cliff sides are covered in Junipers and Pinyon Pines. The city can be seen from a handful of overlooks, however, the best sights are from the air. We offer a 15 helicopter ride as part of the complete Sedona tour.

Sedona is also home to Red Rock State Park. Red Rock State Park was established by then-governor Bruce Babbitt in 1986. It is an excellent place to stretch your legs and perhaps enjoy a nice picnic lunch. A museum with exhibits and a gift shop add to the experience of walking the red dirt paths and panoramic views of Sedona’s red rock formations.
